We have forgiveness of sins according to the riches of his grace; it is not according to something we have done. So if you think that you are forgiven because of your ability to confess your sins, then you are going contrary to this verse. Your confession cannot pay for your sins. Only the blood of Jesus can pay for our sins. That is why we have forgiveness through his blood. Let’s look at Colossians 1:14.
in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Beloved, this forgiveness is unconditional. It is not because of something we did but the pure goodness of God. This teaches us how we are to forgive. We are not to look at the person’s actions. We are to look at how greatly God forgave us. It may be painful and even unbearable, but when we focus on the goodness of God and how he forgave us willingly in the greatest way possible, this same forgiveness flows through us to other people.
My mind went back to when Henry finally opened up to me. The pain and the anger start welling up in my heart. My thoughts were, however, interrupted by Pastor Angela’s voice.
“Don’t try by your own strength to forgive, you can’t do it. In fact, you will do worst things when you try by your strength to forgive others whiles you are hurting. Rather, focus on how Christ has forgiven you and by the Spirit of God, you will be healed and find it easy to forgive the person. So I end with this verse;
bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
With that, we rose to our feet and prayed.

After the meeting, we spoke with a few friends and walked towards the car park. Selly kept cracking us up with gist from a wedding she attended on Saturday. We got to where our cars were parked and our eyes met.
“What’s he doing here?” I thought to myself.
Debbie and Selly looked at me and I looked at them. I hugged them and said goodbye.
I sat in my car and he also sat inside.
“Henry, please what are you doing here?”
“I wanted to see where you meet. Herty, I jwant you to know that I’m really sorry. Let me make it up to you. Let me take you out.”
“I’m really tired so I want to go home and sleep.”
“Herty, don’t do this to me, At least I’m trying to make it up to you. All that I did to you was wrong but I was also hurting that’s why I acted that way.”
“So that’s your excuse? We were both hurting and you decided to heap it all on me to feel better right?”
“Baby, that’s not what I meant. I’m really sorry, let’s go somewhere nice and forget about all of this.”
“That sounds nice but like I said, I’m tired so I would like to get some sleep…”
