The gospel proclaims forgiveness of sins to the sinner. This is because it is only when the sinner is justified from sin that he can receive eternal life. A sinner is only justified from sin through receiving forgiveness.
Acts 13:38-39 says
38Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: 39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
Through Jesus is preached unto all people, the forgiveness of sins. Forgiveness of sin is available to the world through the sacrifice of Jesus. However, it becomes a person’s reality through faith in Christ.
Everyone who accepts Christ receives this forgiveness and is justified from all things. He is thus, qualified to have the life of God (Col. 1:12). God does not hold any sin against him. He stands before God as though he never sinned.
Forgiveness, therefore, is not something God does after we have pleaded and cried to him. It is something he has already done as a result of Christ’s sacrifice. We receive it through faith in Christ…..
