We have established that the land is symbolic of Christ. Therefore, all the things listed in this verse point to the riches we have in Christ. Let’s look at it.
I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel. I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord GOD.
God says, “l will feed them in a good pasture.” A pasture is a land with grass and other low plants for animals to feed on. It is the feeding place of animals. A good pasture, therefore, means a land with so much fresh grass and plants such that the animals are abundantly fed. This speaks of what God has done for us in Christ.
The good pasture is symbolic of Christ. He is filled with everything that we need to be satisfied in our quest for salvation and intimacy with God. In him we are fed with God’s goodness. In him, we have satisfaction. The longings of our soul for union and goodwill with God ends when we come into Christ. Remember what Jesus said to the woman at the well;
but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
Whosever drinks of the Lord shall never thirst. This talks of satisfaction. In Christ, we are fed. He is not just our pasture. He is a good pasture. He is a habitation filled with everything we would ever need concerning our relationship with God….
