Whosever drinks of the Lord shall never thirst. This talks of satisfaction. In Christ, we are fed. He is not just our pasture. He is a good pasture. He is a habitation filled with everything we would ever need concerning our relationship with God.
I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel. I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord GOD.
The verse continues to say, “Upon the high mountains shall their fold be.” A fold is a dwelling place. Christ is our fold. He is our dwelling place.
He begins to describe the fold. Firstly, he talks about the position of the fold, it is on the high mountains. This talks of Christ as the exalted one. After his resurrection, he ascended and is now seated far above all principalities and powers.
which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
In the exalted Christ is our dwelling place. That means that we dwell on a high place. We dwell in Christ in the heavenly places.
and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
On this high place, all things are under our feet. All the effects of sin are under our feet. In Christ, there’s only the riches of his glory. There’s nothing of the fallen man. Hallelujah!
and hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
He has put all things under the feet of Christ for the benefit of the church. We are his body. If all things are under his feet then all things are under our feet. His reign is for our benefit. His exaltation is for our benefit. Christ is our high place….
