Then he goes on to say:
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
Here, he touches on right conduct. He gives the reason for this:
Lie not one to another, *seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:*
Colossians 3:9-10 KJV
Seeing that you have put off the old man with his deed and have put on the new man.
Grace proclaims our new identity in Christ as a result of the finish work of Christ and urges us to live in the light of it.
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
Ephesians 5:8-9 KJV
To think that the gospel of grace equals engaging in all manner of sinful activities is to think wrongly. It means that you don’t really understand the message of the gospel.
If Christ took us out of sin and placed us in union with God, then there’s no way the gospel propagates sinful activities. It rather shows you how you are no longer under the dominion of sin. It teaches you how you are now in union with Christ and how ought to live in the realization of it.
Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
When you acknowledge who you are in Christ, right conduct is an effortless result. Grace in actuality propagates right conduct
You are deeply loved
