He Saves; He doesn’t destroy 2

…Secondly, God does not use the devil’s tools to correct or discipline his children. He corrects us with his word.

When James and John wanted to call fire on the people of Samaria, Jesus rebuked them.

Luke 9:54 KJV

And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?

Luke 9:55-56 KJV

But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.   For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

His mission was clear; to save and not to destroy. This is a clear depiction of God’s character. He doesn’t destroy; he saves.

Corona virus has the devil written all over it. He is the one who seeks to destroy. This is not God’s will to cause us to stop sinning and serve him. It is not God’s reaction towards our sins! No! God already took the punishment for our sins in Christ. There’s no way he’s going to punish us for them again.

God’s will in this situation is to save. We are his body and so he will do so through us. So this is the time for us to get into the word and set our minds on God’s love and protection for us. This is the time to awake to our authority in Christ.

This is the time to pray for the nations. When we pray, we make power available. This is the time to preach the gospel and get people saved. This is the time to minister love and hope to people. This is how people can see and feel the love of God in this crisis.

Don’t use this as a means to preach condemnation or paint a picture of an angry. God is love as seen as in Christ. Seek to know him more in this light! Pray! Speak the word! Preach the gospel! By so doing, you’d be eradicating fear and instilling peace and hope in people.

You are deeply loved!
