“Hmm! All my life, I have been told that God would punish me for my sins so this sounds very new to me.
I know that, although God loves me, he will not hesitate to punish me when I go wrong,” Kay said.
“Kay, God is not two-faced. He doesn’t love you with one side of him and hate you with another. He totally loves you and is consistent with it. There’s no change of nature with God. He remains the same and so does his love.
Because of his love, he sent Jesus to die for you so that you would be free from sin and receive his nature of righteousness. As we have explained, God will not punish you for your wrongs because Jesus was already punished for it. Sin is punished once and not twice. So just take comfort in this,” Pastor Abraham said.
“Yes Kay, it was difficult for all of us to accept this truth when we first heard it but God helped us. He will help you to understand it too,” Laudes said and at that, we held hands and prayed with Kay.
We prayed for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation for him so that the eyes of his understanding would be enlightened that he would know the hope of God’s calling and the riches of the glory of God’s riches in him. (Ephesians 1:17-18)
From Kay’s house, we headed to Joseph’s house but just as Ernest said, he was not there. Fortunately, we saw him on our way back home and walked with him to his house.
He was so drunk that we couldn’t have a conversation with him. When we got to his house, we spoke to his mum who cried whiles narrating what had become of her son.
“I don’t know what happened, all of a sudden, Joseph started drinking and look at how he is looking now. He passed his WASSCE with good grades and his aunty in Accra promised to take him to the University in the City. However, due to his drinking habit, his aunty has changed her mind. I don’t know what to do about him anymore,” Joseph’s mum said amid tears.
“Don’t worry ma, nothing is too difficult for God to do. We will find a good time to come and pray for him,” I assured her.
“Okay, please let me know when you are coming so that I can get him to stay at home for you to pray for him,” His mother said.
“Alright ma,” I said and we took our leave.
That evening, we held hands and interceded for Joseph, his mother and the entire township. We were there to ensure the gospel was grounded in their hearts.
We made time to visit Joseph again. This time around, he was at home and looked sober. So we were able to share the gospel with him. We made him understand that God loved him inspite of his condition and was ready to see him out of it…..
