LIFE IN THE CITY Season Two(Episode 11)

We made time to visit Joseph again. This time around, he was at home and looked sober. So we were able to share the gospel with him. We made him understand that God loved him in spite of his condition and was ready to see him out of it.

“Yes Joseph, John 3:16 says For God so loved the world…. That includes you, yes you, Joseph. God so loved you that he sent Jesus to take away your sins so that you would receive eternal life when you believe in him. Joseph, do you believe in Jesus?” Pastor Emmanuel asked.

“At first, I was a good boy and used to go to church but I don’t know what happened. I hardly go to church and I’m always drunk. I don’t want to live like this but I can’t help myself,” Joseph said in tears.

“It’s alright Joseph, God wants you to know that he has not left you alone. He knows you can’t help yourself so he wants to help you out,” Anita said.

“Yes Jospeh, you don’t have to be good or always go to church before God can help you. He loves you unconditionally and wants to give you his life. This life is in his son, so all you have to do is to receive Jesus into your heart. That would make all the difference,” Laudes added.

At that point, Joseph had understood all that we were saying. He told us he wanted to accept Christ and we led him to do so. After that we all held hands and prayed fervently for him. We prayed for him for about 30 minutes, declaring words inspired by the Spirit of God over him. After that, we took our leave.

When we got home, I reasoned with the rest that it was a good idea to spend more time with Joseph. As a result, we divided ourselves into two groups. The first group, made up of Laudes, Pastor Emmanuel and myself
focused on Joseph whiles the second group, made up of Pastor Abraham, Ernest, Anita and Bertha focused on Kay.

We spent time with both Kay and Joseph sharing with them about God’s love and praying for them. Another truth that we inculcated into them was that they were the righteousness of God through faith in Christ.

Kay, in particular, would not agree to it matter what.

“That is blasphemy, how can you say that a human being is righteous? Only God is righteous so how dare you say such thing?”….
