It was a cool evening. One could feel the cool breeze as it swept across the compound slightly blowing the dried leaves on the ground. Many of the students took a walk on the streets whiles others sat at the corridors and porches chit chatting.
I was sitting at the porch alone staring into the sky and enjoying the cool air breeze. I just loved staring into the atmosphere and enjoying the warmth that nature brought. It brought fond memories of times in the village where we played outside when the full moon was out.
“Araba, your phone is ringing,” Anita called out from the room interrupting my thoughts.
“Okay, I’m coming,” I responded.
“Patrick? Why is he calling me?” I thought to myself as I walked to the porch to answer the call.
“Hello Araba dear, I’ve been wanting to discuss something with you, could we meet somewhere?” He asked when I answered the call.
“Discuss something with me? Does it have to do with Humphrey? If so, then don’t worry, we have settled the issue,” I responded.
“Oh no, it’s not about that. It’s something else,” He said.
“Okay, then let’s discuss it on phone because I don’t think I would get time to meet you,” I said.
“I see. Is it because you’ve been spending all your time with Pastor Abraham? Is it true you two are dating?”
“Who told you about it?”
“It doesn’t matter, I just want to know if it is true.”
“Anyway, you heard the truth, we are dating.”
“Oh okay. Well, I thought it was just rumour. I didn’t think you would want to date again so soon and a pastor for that matter. I mean no offence, I’m just saying.”
“Patrick, I think things have been very fine between us after all that happened. If you don’t have anything else to talk about, then let’s talk another time.”
“Oh relax, I have something else to say.”
“I have to go please. Let’s talk later, bye.” I said and hanged the phone.
“Who was that?” Anita who was folding her clothes asked when I entered the room with a frown.
“Patrick, he wanted to know if I was really dating Pastor Abraham,” I said and sighed.
“Oh I see. So what did you tell him?” Anita asked.
“I told him we are dating,” I responded.
“It looks like someone would love to come back into your life. Haha!” Anita teased.
“I know right, but it’s not going happen,” I said and chuckled.
“But I must say that Patrick has changed a lot. He now comes to church every service day,” Anita said.
“Yeah and we thank God for that. But that’s all he would be, a good church pal,” I said and we burst into laughter…..
