THE GOSPEL 4

527

God limited himself in a human flesh just to save you from sin and death. That’s how much he loves you. He became a man just to taste death for you. That is why his death is good news.

Hebrews 2:9
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

Hebrews 2:14
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

He became a man so as to deal with the sin problem that created an abyss(death) between us and God forever. It didn’t end there, he was buried. There, he experienced death for us. The death that we deserved, he experienced it for us. The glorious thing was that he resurrected. Hallelujah!

When he died and was buried, he experience death for us. After he had experienced the punishment for every of our sins and after the demand of justice had been met, God declared man not guilty of any sin. It was at this point that Jesus resurrected.

His resurrection, therefore, is a proof that all our sins have been paid forever and ever. It indicates that it is now legal for man to become a child of God.

Romans 4:25
who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

He was delivered because of our offences and was raised because of our justification. Note the Word “For”. It means “Because of, as a result or on the account of.” This means that Jesus was delivered to death because of our sins and was raised because of our justification. Jesus wasn’t raised from death for us to be justified; he was raised from death BECAUSE WE WERE JUSTIFIED.

Man was justified in the tomb after Jesus had paid all the punishment for our sins. At that point, God justified man and Jesus resurrected. His resurrection is the proof that our sins have been paid for. That is why we celebrate the resurrection of Christ.

If he hadn’t resurrected, we would never have the confidence that all our sins have been paid for. But now, we are ever confident that as long as he’s alive, our sins have been paid for and we have been justified in the sight of God…

To be continued…
