Ken: John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
George: Good. God so loved the world, the “world”, here, refers to the people in the world. So it means that God so loved the people in the world including you, Ken.
He paused to let the words sink in, then continued.
George: The verse continues to say that whosoever believes in him… Whosoever means anybody at all. No matter who you are or what you have done, once you believe in him, you will be saved. So Ken you are definitely included. God so loved you and sent Jesus to die for you. Now it’s up to you to accept his love.
Ken: Hmm! But I haven’t lived right. I’ve been a really stubborn guy, so how can God love me?
George: God doesn’t love you based on what you do, he loves you because he is love. So God loves you despite your sins because he is love.
Ken: I see. But I’m feeling guilty and ashamed because of all that I’ve done.
George: Ken, we know that you have done so many wrongs, but that’s why Jesus died. He died for your sins to set you free from them. He took your place of sin and died for you so God is no longer counting your sins against you.
Ken: Really? You don’t know some of the things I’ve done.
George: It doesn’t matter. Jesus already took your place and died for you; he died for all your sins including the very bad ones. All you have to do is to believe in him and you’re saved.
Ken: So you mean God isn’t angry at me? That’s what I normally hear preachers say. They say God is angry at sinners.
George: The Word of God is the truth. Romans 5:8 says that God demonstrated his love to us when we were still sinners. He sent Christ to die for us. Jesus won’t have come to die for us if he was angry at us. Ken, God loves you.
Ken: Hmm! Alright. It’s hard to believe that God can save me. So what should I do to be saved? Ermm…..if it’s a long list, then I’m done, I can’t match up
George: There’s no list. All you have to do is believe that Jesus died for sins and resurrected and declare it. John 3:16 says that whosever believes should not perish but have everlasting life.
Ken: I see.
George: So do you believe?
George: Glory to God. Affirm your belief in Christ by saying this with me; Father, I thank you for saving me through faith in your son Jesus. I believe that Jesus died and resurrected to give me his life. I thank you that according to your Word, I’m now saved. Halleluyah!
Ken: Amen. Thank you so much Pastor George.
George: Glory to God, Ken. You are a child of God now. You have a new life. I would be glad if you will come for Bible study to know more about this new life so that you can walk in it.
Ken: Okay, I will come with Cyrus from now on.
“That’s great. I would like us to visit some of your friends in the neighborhood. Who can we visit, Cyrus?” George asked.
“We could have visited Marvin or Kingsley, but they have not been home for some time now.” Cyrus responded.
“What about the girl you told me about?” George asked.
“Monica? She wouldn’t like to see me,” Cyrus said.
“But do you know where she stays?” George asked.
“Yes,” Cyrus responded….
“Okay, then let’s go and see how she’s doing?” George said.
To be continued…
