George: Did we all hear that? For God so loved the world. The world here refers to the people in the world. Here, Jesus was not referring to righteous people. He was referring to sinners. Yet he said that God so loved the people of the world. It doesn’t matter the mess find yourself in, God is madly in love with you.

Jennifer read Romans 5:6-8 for us.

Rom 5:7(NLT)

7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

George: Good. There are people who have died for worthy causes. People have given their lives for the sake of kingdoms and even for the sake of the gospel of Christ. Some too have died for the sake of their loved ones. It is rare but possible that someone would die for a good person but God did the impossible. He did the untold. He became a man to die for sinners. He demonstrated his love to us when we were still sinners. If you are not convinced about that, let’s look at Ephesians 2:4-5.

Joshua: Ephesians 2:4-5 (NLT)…..But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)

George: Did you all hear that? God is rich in mercy and loves us so much even when we were dead in sins. He became a man (Jesus Christ) to die for our sins and give us his very life (Eternal life). God loved us when we were still sinners so that means even our sins did not stop God from loving us. Do we all understand that?

Cyrus simply nodded.

George: Any questions up to this point?

Cyrus: Ermm, I want to know, how can God love sinners, doesn’t he hate sin?

George: Yes, God hates sin but loves the sinner. God loved man and wanted to be in union with man but sin became a barrier. However, sin wasn’t going to stop God’s love for man because God is love personified. He loves us not because of what we do but because of who he is. Now let’s say, you hate malaria right and one of your friends gets malaria, would you hate your friend because of that?

Cyrus: Oh no, Malaria is the problem here so I would help him cure it.

George: Brilliant, that’s the same way God thought. He already loved us but sin came between us. So he employed a means to get rid of sin.

Cyrus: Wow!

George: Yeah. So the solution to getting rid of sin was Jesus Christ. You see, the wages of sin is death. So for sin to be done away with and for man to be saved, there was the need for someone without sin to take the place of man and die for him. So that by so doing, sin would be done away with.

George: So God sent his son Jesus. Jesus was the expressed image of the father; he was God in flesh. He took our place, became sin with our sin and died in our place. But it didn’t end there, he was buried and on the third day he arose anew. Now because sin has been done away with, God can now declare us not guilty of any sin.

Can someone read Romans 4:25 for us.

Jennifer: Romans 4:25 who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

George: Thanks dear. We are justified now because Jesus took our place and paid for our sins. All you have to do is to believe in Jesus Christ and receive this salvation provided by Jesus Christ.

Cyrus: So isn’t God mad at me for all the wrong things I have done?….

To be continued….
