Abigail realized what she was involved in. Confused, she asked for time to think about it and walked slowly back home.
Back in the Hayford’s house, George was determined to preach the gospel in the neighborhood but nobody seemed to share the same zeal with him. Even Joshua and Jennifer felt he was being too serious about preaching the gospel in the neighborhood.
“Bro. George, even if you preach, these guys and girls won’t listen to you. And even if they do, they will not change overnight. I don’t think it’s worth the risk,” Joshua said to George as they sat at the porch of their house.
“Joshua, don’t you believe that the Gospel of Christ is the power of God to save? So why are you saying that? I know deep down that these guys haven’t heard the true gospel, all they have heard are a bunch of rules and condemnatory messages, and if anything, that’s why the detest everything about God. They think the subject of God is a difficult one,” George explained.
“But Bro. George are you sure about that? There’s a man who preaches on this very street every dawn but there has been no change,” Jenny said.
“Jenny, that’s exactly what I’m talking about. Have you heard what that man preaches? It’s all about stop sinning and live right or you will go to hell. He doesn’t present God’s unconditional love to them or tell them that their sins are forgiven because Jesus died for them. The gospel isn’t about how people’s sin will take them to hell. It is about how Jesus took their sins and paid the price for them to have forgiveness of sins and eternal life.
I say it again, these guys haven’t heard the true gospel, all they have heard are a bunch of rules and condemnatory messages and if anything, that’s why the detest everything about God. They think the subject of God is a difficult one but it isn’t. So it necessary that we tell that the Truth,” George said.
“You have a point bro, but I don’t think we are the only Christians here. There are many of them here but so far none of them are preaching the gospel. There should be a reason,” Joshua said.
“Besides, mum and dad says we shouldn’t get any close to them,” Jennifer added.
“Then you guys should stop going to school because you sit in the same class with worst sinners. I know the heart of God is that these young boys and girls get to know the gospel of Christ and by all means I will find a way to do that,” George concluded.
Kingsley, on the other hand, had informed the other guys about the new girl Harriet had introduced to him. The guys insisted that since she was shy and quiet as Kingsley described she wouldn’t give in to him. Kingsley, however, thought that he could get her easily since she was naive.
“You guys, just give me two weeks and I will bring you the results,” Kingsley challenged.
“Two weeks is too long? How many hours does it even take to cook for the whole neighborhood and you want to use two good weeks to win a small girl?” Marvin teased and they burst into laughter.
“Marvin, relax. Kingsley, you said two weeks right? We will be waiting for your results,” Cyrus said.
“You guys talk as if you don’t know me. I’m the king in this vicinity, I’m in charge, just trust me,” Kingsley said.
“Fake king, just make sure you fulfill your promise,” Marvin said….
